How to access the live server

The Live VSP Admin area allows you to view all your Live transactions, refund payments, release deferred payments and void transactions processed through the Live server that have been sent to your acquiring bank for card authorisation. This is identical to your Test VSP Admin area and should be familiar to you.

If your account has NOT gone live, you will need to log into VSP Admin on the Test Server and complete your testing.

Ecommerce vendors (VSP Form / VSP Server / VSP Direct)

Now that you have finished using the Protx Test Server you will be set up with a Live account that allows you to access the Protx Live Server. It is important that you make the required technical changes to your website and/or shopping cart software to ensure payments are routed to the Protx Live Server.

There are a number of ways of achieving this which depend on the Protx service that you signed up for.

Shopping Carts

If you use an ‘off the shelf’ shopping cart solution, the ability to switch the cart between ‘Test’ and ‘Live’ modes should be triggered within the Shopping Cart administration panel. If you are uncertain how to do this, Protx recommends that you contact your Shopping Cart provider directly.

Custom integration and Kits

If you or your web developer have performed a ‘Custom Integration’ (either through your own design or by using one of the Protx kits) you need to ensure that the ‘Test Url’ is replaced with the ‘Live Url’ so that payments are directed to the Live server.

For more information on which URL should be used please consult the appropriate ‘Protocol and Integration guide’ – or supply this to your web developer.

VSP Terminal vendors

To access the VSP Terminal to take a live payment, please ensure that you log into your Live VSP Admin account. To access the Live VSP Admin log-in page, please follow this link:

Signing off your Live VSP Admin Account

When you have completed your testingon the Test Server, you will need to test your Live account to make sure that you are able to process transactions with the banks.

The Test and Live Accounts are identical, the only difference being that the Live account is connected to the banks and thus transactions will be settled.

Live testing is an important part of your integration with Protx. Your Live account will connect you to the banks for the first time and the transaction cycle needs to be tested thoroughly by you. You need to use the Live Protx URL's and process your transactions via your Live account.

As you are Live you will need to use Live credit / debit cards - this means using your own cards

Test card numbers cannot be used on the Live system

The Transaction you place will be sent to the banks for authorisation. However, you will be able to void or refund it if you wish.

In order to make sure that your Live account is working, we request that you make at least 2 transactions and 2 refunds using both a Credit card and Debit card - i.e.   1 x Visa or MasterCard and 1 x Maestro (if you have the card available).

The more testing you do, the more confident you can be.
